In order to capture the data from each individual car ford uses as many as 74 sensors including sonar , cameras , radar , accelerometers , temperature sensors and rain sensors. As a result of this establishment Energy line of plug in hybrid cars generates over 25 gigabytes of data every hour. The data is sent to the factory for real time analysis. The test models in the testing facility generate up to 250 gigabytes of data every hour from smart cameras and sensors.

Social media data too plays a big part for the automobile industry as most of the opinions are voiced on those platforms. In order to address the queries of constantly improvisation of the cars based on various factors / data like customer feedback is taken into consideration. Automobile manufacturers carefully monitor what customers are saying online, on social networks, blogs, etc..
